Q: Why should I make you my coach?
A: I started at rock bottom and climbed my way back up while being a single dad and working full time. Because of that I can show you the most effective and sustainable way of getting healthy and breaking the bad habits. I’ve been researching exercise and nutrition for quite a while now and I’m passionate about sharing what I know to help others, there’s nothing more rewarding to me!

I’ve started p90x and have finished the first two to three weeks of it, after a little while I started to decline from working out, I did lose almost 10 pounds, but I just slowly lost motivation to keep going. I really do what to do it, but i’m sure you can understand, its hard to find motivation. my overall goal is to get into shape by June for summer, my girlfriend is wanting to see some abs by then hahaha. talk to you soon.
I also feel that seeing this video gave me a spark of motivation again, I really appreciate you puting this video up.
and by the way, you look damn good!! hope I get there in a few months haha
Thanks Nathan! I totally feel you on the motivation part. I’d encourage you to get back into the swing of things with the workouts man! You can check in with me every day and let me know how you’re doing, or add me on Facebook so I can get you in my Facebook group and have you post your progress there. I’m also starting a challenge group on March 12th for P90X, it’ll have 5 people and set to secret so posts are only seen by people in the group. I already have 1 signed up. Let me know if you’re interested man! Everyone is going to start on the same day, and check in with the group daily for accountability.
Hey, I saw your video and was very impressed. I’ve bought P90X and just haven’t been able to keep up with it. I’m still working on it, but for some reason just can’t get motivated.
Thanks April! I’d love to help you stay motivated! Support is a key element to making exercise and nutrition FUN and ongoing. Add me on Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/jgbuehler ) and I’ll get you in my private group there. It’s got a lot of like minded people just like you, looking to get fit and stay fit. Hope to see you there! =D
Proud of you. Love to chat w/ you sometime to refuel my engine.
I appreciate that Michael! I’d be happy to chat any time as well! Check out my “Start here!” page it’ll get you started on the right foot. (Also has our Facebook link) Talk to you soon!
Jake, a great story you have here. Thank you for sharing. I sent in a coach change request and would be honored to have you be my new coach. Nothing against my current one, but I love the way you have a plan together and am welcoming new people instead of my being assigned one (which is how I got my current one). I am restarting P90X again Monday and would love some insight on how to accomplish max results on limited funds and time.
I’m really happy to have you Devlin! I can definitely help you with your goals. I did P90X on a budget, heck I’m doing P90X2 on a budget right now lol. I just got a new car payment added to the list.
Shoot me an email and let’s chat asap to get you goin’.
What kind of diet did you stick to?? what was a normal days meals??
This is a great question Mike. Since my site is so new I haven’t had a chance to get all of the content that I want up yet, and it’ll grow in time. But for now I’m going to get to work right away on what I eat and what my daily meals look like. I’m also going to have a video up in the next few days showing from the moment I wake up to when I go to bed everything I eat in that given day, how I prepare it, and how I track my nutrition using Loseit.com
To answer your question in short though. Right now I stick to all of the foods listed on the P90X / P90X2 grocery list in the nutrition guide. I get most of my food from Costco to save money. I am currently eating 2600 calories a day at 30% protein 40% carb 30% fat. When I first started P90X I ate 2400 calories a day through the whole program. The first month I aimed for 50% protein, 30% carb, 20% fat. The second and third month I aimed for 40% protein 40% carb 20% fat.
Sounds great. Thanks for getting back to my question. I am going to hit this hard and I want to have results like yours.
I’m sure you will Mike. If you bring it in your workouts, and really put some time into learning nutrition tracking and hitting your macronutrient %’s the rest just takes care of itself. Keep me posted on your progress. Did you join our Facebook group yet? If not add me as a friend and I’ll get you in. My Facebook ID is JGBuehler BRING IT!
I have P90X on my Facebook and saw your video then went to your website and signed up for Loseit right away. It’s all been really motivational. I also have P90X but I tend to get discouraged because of the pull ups but I’m looking to start up again Monday by tracking what I eat through Loseit and pushing myself to exercise daily because I definitly don’t like what I see in the mirror. I LOVE eating healthy but I have to admit it gets pretty pricey especially when you have to eat like 5 meals a day. How did you have time since you work full time because what happens to me is I’ll forget to eat or forget to drink enough water because I’m busy with college and work that most of the time I’ll eat something quick in the morning and then when I get home make dinner. Look forward to chatting with you. Great website!
Great questions. When factoring exercise into your daily schedule it’s definitley an adjustment. I tell everyone to take it as serious as your job. You set your alarm in the morning and shower / get ready to make sure you get to work on time, you gotta do the same thing with exercise, it’s your health! Same goes for nutrition and recovery (getting to bed for 7-8 hours)
For me, I sat down with my girlfriend and we planned it out. I wake up at 4am currently so we set up our requipment right when I get home at 1:30pm and get right into the workout. I make my lunch the night before, or really quick in the morning if I slacked off haha.
Shoot me an email anytime at jacob.buehler@gmail.com !!!
Hi jake!
The tranformation is amazing.
Im starting p90 on monday.!
Iv lost stone and half from general excersise and healthy eating, but now am going to start p90x. Is it also a good weight loss program? i dont want to be a chunky guy where i have just added weight and muscle percentage. I want to loose weight and be ripped!
thanks you!
Bradley, congrats on starting P90X! I wouldn’t call P90X a weight loss program, more of a “fat loss” program. As you saw by my transformation I did lose overall weight but it was mostly all fat, I actually “gained” muscle.
If you take your nutrition as serious as you take the program you’ll get seriously ripped. Let me know if you want any help figuring out a meal plan.
You’re going to do awesome!
Hi Jake,
What is the best time to workout? Mornings or later in the day. I been trying so hard to wake up early but it never works out.
Great vid!
Hey Wansi! There actually is no better time to work out, however, I think mornings are usually optimal. My reasoning is that it fires up the metabolism for the day. It’s rough working out in the morning though, so it helps to have a pre workout supplement like E&E or C4 to get you fired up quick. But for some people it’s just too hard to get a good workout in the morning. I’d say whatever fits your schedule and feels the best for you to push the hardest and go for it
Thanks for watching my video! Have a great day!
I read that when you were biginning this program you were a single father, I commend you on that becuase it is usually the other way around. This is the position that I am in, I am a single mother of two and financially strapped, daycare is sucking the life out of me! Any way, do you have any advice on how to purchase everything needed to be successful at the program on a tight budget? I already have the P90x DVD’s but that’s about it, what would you reccomend be the next step to getting started?
Sorry to hear about your situation. =( Like you said, I’ve been there so I can feel your pain. I can tell you that it only gets better though, and it’s going to make you 10 times the better person.
If you already have the program but you’re on a tight budget, you can get yourself some resistance bands at your local sports shop, or online through amazon. Additionally you’ll need a yoga mat which you can find pretty cheap at wal mart or target. If you have the extra $20 though, I’d get the pullup bar as well, because a pullup bar / chair (as assist) will work your back muscles (2nd largest muscle group) a lot better than resistance bands /w door attachment will.
When you get some bands, it’ll help to have light / medium / heavy. For food, there’s no better savings then buying in bulk at Costco. You can go with the basics as well, things like frozen chicken, whole wheat pasta or farro / quinoa, fruit, frozen bags of veggies (with no preservatives), big boxes of oatmeal, avocados / olive oil / almonds etc. That’ll get you bulk amounts of all 3 macronutrients, proteins, carbs and fats.
Thanks Jake this sounds like a great starting point!
It’s worked for many people. It’ll work for you too.
